With the scrutiny of nominations of candidates for National Council elections for Samdrupjongkhar completed in the office of the returning officer yesterday, the six candidates were briefed on the election code of conduct.

As the candidates can start their campaign upon approval of the returning officers, five candidates have submitted their tentative campaign schedule to the office of the returning officer, while one is in the process of submitting.

Except for Sangay Tenzin, a candidate from the thromde, the other candidates decided to kick off their campaign from today.

The candidates have applied for campaign fund, which is expected to be released by March 22, according to the NC Elections 2018 schedule.

Ugyen Dorji, a candidate from Martshala gewog, has decided to start his campaign from Phuntshothang gewog.

Tshelthrim Dukar of Orong gewog will also start her campaign from Phuntshothang gewog, while Kelzang Phuntsho of Wangphu gewog will start from Wangphu chiwog.

Tshewang Tenzin of Serthi gewog will begin from Langchenphu gewog,

Jigme Wangchuk will start from Dewathang gewog, while Sangay Tenzin is will also start his campaign from Dewathang on March 23.

The first common forum in the dzongkhag will begin from Lauri gewog on March 26 and end by April 9.

Meanwhile, the public debate will take place in the multi purpose hall of the Samdrupjongkhar Middle Secondary School.
