Order: Equipped with two tracker dogs, a team of five police officials including a forensic expert from the Royal Bhutan Police, Thimphu have reached Trongsa to investigate into the cold-blooded murder of a teenager and his grandmother on August 5 in Kingarabten in Drakteng, Trongsa.

Police has also announced a Nu 50,000 reward for information that would lead to the successful arrest of the suspect.

The class VII student and his grandmother were found murdered in their home on August 6. The woman had died from slashed throat while the boy had multiple gashes on the head, back and hands.

Although Trongsa police has already begun its investigations, it also sought for an advanced forensic team from the headquarters in Thimphu.

“Since, the division doesn’t have the capacity to conduct forensic investigation, a requisition for one was put up with the headquarters for immediate deployment,” a senior police official from Trongsa said.

A forensic squad was deployed immediately from Thimphu yesterday morning. By around five pm, the team of five police personnel were already examining the crime scene for possible lead and documenting the observations.

Until yesterday evening, the crime scene was secured. “Even the bodies were left as they were until the team from Thimphu arrived,” Kingarabten tshogpa, Tshewang, said.

The bodies were handed over to the family yesterday night after the forensic squad’s examination. “The investigations would continue until the suspects are arrested and the case is forwarded to court,” a Trongsa police official said.
