Residents of Gelephu had hoped that with the new water source completed last year, the problem of water shortage in the gewog would be a thing of past.

The new water supply system from a source located about 10km from Samtenling gewog centre was handed over to the Gelephu Gewog Administration in May 2018. Construction had begun from June 2016.
