Accident: Nganglam police have arrested the driver of the DCM truck that ran away after hitting and injuring a three-year-old girl on October 6.
The girl is still in critical condition in a hospital in Guwahati as of yesterday.
On October 6, the girl was hit while she was playing on the road near the Dungsam Polymer factory, about 7km from Nganglam town.
The driver was arrested on charges of hit and run case. According to sources, the driver who owns a shop in Nganglam denied and said he neither was aware about the accident nor saw the girl playing on the road.
The driver had gone for a ride. On the way while he overtook the truck parked on the road, he hit the girl who appeared suddenly near his truck, according to the sources. A woman washing clothes below the road rushed after hearing the noise and found the girl lying in pool of blood. She immediately informed the girl’s mother and neighbours.
The victim was immediately taken to Nganglam BHU and later was referred to Guwahati Hospital.
Police got information around 3:30pm. The DCM truck driver was caught from Nganglam town on the same day of the incident. Police found that his DCM truck’s right indicator was broken and its glass pieces were found at the accident site.
