Visit: The president of the Bhutan Youth Development Fund (YDF), Her Majesty Gyalyum Tshering Pem Wangchuck, is in Bangladesh on a five-day study tour to BRAC to explore possibilities for collaboration between BRAC and YDF.

Founded in 1972, BRAC is the world’s largest non-governmental development organization dedicated to alleviating poverty starting in Bangladesh and now across 11 countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

The Vice President of the YDF, Her Royal Highness Chimi Yangzom Wangchuck and YDF officials are accompanying Her Majesty.

On Tuesday, March 15, Her Majesty met with the Founder and Chairperson of BRAC, Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, and BRAC’s executive management team at the BRAC Centre, the organization’s headquarters in Dhaka.

In the evening, Her Majesty met the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina at her residence.

Her Majesty and YDF officials will continue their study trip with field visits to BRAC’s Ayesha Abed Foundation production centre and BRAC Aarong Flagship Outlet.

BRAC benefits over 138 million people worldwide through social enterprises and development programmes focused on adolescents as well as the poor.

YDF is seeking to establish partnerships for capacity development, joint projects, and social enterprises.

“Through collaboration, YDF strives to strengthen its positive impact for youth across Bhutan,” a press release from YDF stated.
