Prime Minister Dr Lotay Tshering accepted Home Minister Sherub Gyeltshen’s resignation this morning.

The minister has also submitted his resignation from the Member of Parliament (MP) of the National Assembly to Speaker Wangchuk Namgyel recently. 

The Speaker is also expected to accept the resignation following the Prime Minister’s decision.

The larger bench of the High Court convicted the minister to two months in prison for claiming false vehicle insurance amounting to Nu 226,546. 

The crime took place after he superannuated from the civil service and before he joined Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa to contest in the third National Assembly elections. Lyonpo has appealed to the Supreme Court.
