The Government of India through the Indian embassy in Thimphu released Nu 1.19 billion (B) for the Project Tied Assistance (PTA) projects on November 19.

This release is part of the Indian government’s assistance Nu 28B to the PTA projects under the current Plan.

The fund will be used for the implementation of five PTA projects: blacktopping of 20 gewog centre roads, development of industrial parks in Jigmeling, reconstruction of Wangduephodrang Dzong, government-initiated network project plan, and urban infrastructure development in Nganglam.

India has supported Bhutan’s socio-economic development since the launch of the first Five Year Plan in 1961, and it continues to be Bhutan’s most important development partner to this day.
