While the forensic department has completed its investigation into the death of the retired colonel, police said they are still investigating the case.

The body of the 55-year-old was found in a place called Soepang, about an hour’s walk from Hongtsho Trashigang Goenpa in Thimphu on December 22. He was reported missing since October 9.

An official with the Forensic Medicine Department at the national referral hospital in Thimphu said officials had conducted an external examination of the body. However, he said a complete postmortem examination such as an autopsy and toxicological analysis could not be performed in the hospital due to lack of such facilities.

The official said that although no obvious penetrating injuries were found on the body, possibilities of superficial injuries such as abrasions and contusion could not be excluded due to decomposition changes.
