His Majesty The King granted an audience to Japan’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Takei Shunsuke, at the Tashichhodzong yesterday. 

The minister, who is on a 3-day visit, also called on Prime Minister Dr Lotay Tshering. 

The minister shared that Japan was deeply touched by the love and prayers from Bhutan during the passing of their former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. 




He highlighted that the close ties between the two countries have been fostered by respect and trust between the peoples of the two countries. 

This is the second ministerial-level visit from Japan since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1986.

As a long-standing development partner, Japan shares close ties of friendship with Bhutan.
