Aid: Ambassador of Bhutan to Japan, V Namgyel and Ambassador of Japan to Bhutan, Kenji Hiramatsu, signed the Exchange of Notes under the Japanese Grant Aid ‘The Project for Reconstruction of Bridges on Primary National Highway No 4’ on December 16 in New Delhi, according to a foreign affairs ministry press release.

The grant which amounts to Yen 2.16 billion will fund the reconstruction of four bridges on the Primary National Highway No 4.

Speaking at the signing ceremony held at the Japanese Embassy in New Delhi, Ambassador V Namgyel conveyed the appreciation of the Royal Government of Bhutan to the Government of Japan for its steadfast support and generous assistance to Bhutan’s development. He said that this project will greatly benefit the people of Central Bhutan which in turn will facilitate towards achieving balanced socio-economic development throughout the country.

Ambassador V Namgyel conveyed the deep appreciation of the Royal Government and people of Bhutan to the Government and people of Japan for their continued assistance and friendship.

With the signing of the Exchange of Notes in New Delhi, the Grant Aid agreement for the project will now be signed between the secretary, Gross National Happiness Commission and chief representative, JICA Bhutan Office in Thimphu.
