Chencho Gyeltshen is back in Indian Super League (ISL) after Kerala Blasters, a professional Indian football club, confirmed the signing of the Bhutanese forward for the upcoming ISL 2021 and 2022 seasons, yesterday. 

The Bhutanese forward announced his signing with the club on his official social media account. Chencho said that it was his wish to play with the Kerala based football club. 

Chencho, who is the leading goal scorer of the country, joins with the experience of having played both the I-league and ISL over the years. 

He was awarded the fans forward of the season in I-league 2020 and 2021 seasons after recording seven goals and one assist with the Punjab side last year. He was the highest goal scorer for the club.

Chencho Gyeltshen had signed a two-year contract with Punjab FC from Paro FC for I-league 2019 and 2020 seasons after winning ISL title with Bengaluru FC in 2018 and 2019. 

“I am very delighted to share that joining Kerala Blasters is one of my wishes come true. I can’t wait to join the Yellow army and play in front of all the fans,” Chencho wrote on his official Facebook page. 

“We now have Bhutanese goal machine in our ranks,” Kerala Blasters wrote on their official social media page to announce the signing of the Bhutanese international. 

Chencho Gyeltshen would be laying alongside Spanish striker Alvaroz Vazquez who completed the move to Kerala Blasters on the same day. The Spaniard has the experience of playing 12 English Premier League games and 150 La Liga games, the premier football leagues of England and Spain respectively. 

Based in Kochi, Kerala, the club recorded one of the worst performances in ISL since its inception in 2014. The club finished second last in the table with nine losses, three wins and eight draws in ISL 2020 and 2021 seasons.
