A 60-year-old woman from Darjaygang in Phuentsholing gewog died on impact when a landslide struck her makeshift hut at Chamkuna on the early morning of August 12. The woman’s daughter and two grandchildren survived with minor injuries.

Incessant rainfall had triggered the landslide.  Although the deceased was from Darjaygang, she was living in a temporary hut at Chamkuna, between Bangay Bazaar and Darjaygang, along the Amochhu embankment.

Phuentsholing gup Birkha Bahadur Rai said that the deceased’s daughter and grandchildren are in stable condition.

He said Phuentsholing gewog road is currently inaccessible.

The Ganglakha road that connects two gewogs of Dungna and Metedkha in Chukha is also blocked since August 11. Lokchina gewog is also cut-off for several days, according to gup Indra Lal Ghalley.
