Association: Les Amis du Bhoutan, one of the oldest friendship associations for Bhutan in Europe, celebrated the 30th anniversary of its foundation at a dinner in Paris on January 27, according to a foreign affairs press release.

The association was founded in 1987 to promote better understanding of Bhutan in France.

The dinner was attended by over 40 members of the association, which has about 90 registered members from French speaking countries in Europe.

(Dr) Francoise Pommaret, director of research at the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) in France and research adviser at the Institute for Language and Cultural Studies in Bhutan, has been president of the association since 1999.

Ambassador Pema Choden attended the event and thanked the association’s members for their interest in and continued support to Bhutan.
