Verdict: Dagana district court on August 5 sentenced two men to life imprisonment and another two to seven years imprisonment for vandalising two choetens in Dagana on March 11 this year.

The main suspect, a 29-year-old man and 31-year old man both from Aagochen village in Khebisa, Dagana were sentenced to life for vandalising a choeten near Dagana town on January 9 and attempting to vandalise a Namgay Khanzang Choeten in Khebisa gewog on March 11.

Another 40-year-old from Aagochen, the mastermind behind the crime was imprisoned for seven years and a 48-year-old man who was involved in aiding and abetting the crime was also sentenced for seven years.

According to the verdict, the main nangtens (relics) of the choeten like silver doma container (chaka), silver lime container (trime) and eight bronze bangles recovered from the culprits were handed over to the tshogpa of Kalizingkha chiwog.

These items were robbed from the Chorten located near Dagana town.

Villagers who were patrolling on the night of the crime March 11 caught the men when they were removing the doleps (stones) from the choeten.
