Shortage of maize, the primary ingredient used in making animal feeds has hit the country’s only feeds manufacturing firm, Karma Feeds in Phuentsholing affecting poultry farmers and agents across the country.

Officials said it has become difficult to import maize as per their requirement due to shortage in India. About 99 percent of maize used in making feeds for poultry and other livestock is imported from India, Karma Feeds officials said.
