Phurpa Lhamo | Wangdue

A 41-year old man is under custody for the alleged voluntary manslaughter of a 58-year old man in Wangdue.

Kuensel learned that the incident took place on February 21 at the worker’s camp of the Wangdue Dzong reconstruction project at Samthang.

According to sources, the suspect went to check the house of the deceased in Samthang after his wife didn’t return home after nightfall.  The suspect allegedly forced open the door and found his wife and the deceased together inside.

After allegedly stabbing the deceased, the suspect returned to Khuruthang, covered in blood, on foot.

When he was questioned at the Khuruthang checkpoint, he confessed to the crime.

The suspect is a private employee.  Both the deceased and the suspect are from Tsirang.

The suspect’s wife was found under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.  She was detained the next day.  The case is being investigated.
