The militia group (2003) launched physical distancing awareness campaign materials for Covid-19 at the World Wildlife Fund office in Thimphu yesterday.

The group began working on the materials—two short videos, jingle, pamphlets, and posters—since April 8 with support from the Ministry of Health.

Tshering Gyeltshen, one of the group members, said that the videos would be aired on television channels and would also be made available on social media platforms.

Bhutan Telecom and Tashi Cell would also be involved to make jingle as ringtone on mobile phones.

The pamphlets and posters will be displayed in strategic public places around the country.

“Dzongkhag health officers will assist the team in distributing pamphlets and posters to all the dzongkhags and gewogs,” said Tshering Gyeltshen.

Health Minister Dechen Wangmo, who graced the launching ceremony, said that maintaining physical distance was difficult despite continuous awareness. “There should be strong implementation.”

Lyonpo said that one of the strategic places was Centenary Farmers’ Market (CFM) in Thimphu. “There are about 400 stalls and Desuups are having a tough time controlling the crowd at CFM.”

She said that due to the changing dynamics of Covid-19, people must observe health protocols.

Currently, Bhutan has five Covid-19 positive cases.
