Police in Samdrupjongkhar are still investigating an alleged rape case.

The incident occurred on the night of May 1, where the 19-year-old suspect was alleged of raping the 16-year-old victim.

While both the victim and suspect are students, they did not know each other before the incident happened.

The suspect, who is a student of a remote school, came for shopping to Samdrupjongkhar town and went looking for his friend and took the victim with him to look for their common friend.

Sources claimed he raped the victim under the influence of alcohol.

The victim’s mother saw the incident and reported the matter to the police. The suspect confessed to the crime.

Police sources said the case would be forwarded to the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) after they complete the investigation.
