Crime: The man, who was found murdered near a stream on the way to Royal Thimphu College on the morning of April 21 was identified as Khanku, 50, from Dophoogchen gewog, Dorokha in Samtse.

Police also found the taxi a Maruti Suzuki EECO belonging to the man parked near hotel Riverview yesterday morning. A passerby informed police after bloodstains were seen on the parked vehicle. Although no weapons were found inside the vehicle, police said there were bloodstains inside the vehicle as well.

With investigations ongoing, police refused to comment further.

The taxi driver was found dead with multiple stab wounds on the body, near a stream on the way to Royal Thimphu College. A passerby, who spotted the body, when he had gone to relieve himself near the stream, informed police around 7am on April 21. The murder was suspected to have occurred between midnight and 5am.

Forensic unit officials of the Thimphu referral hospital said the deceased suffered multiple stab wounds with a sharp weapon on the front and back of the neck and chest.

Meanwhile, the body has been handed over to the deceased’s relatives yesterday morning.
