The Royal Bhutanese Embassy in Brussels, Belgium hosted a reception on December 16 to celebrate National Day, according to a press release from the embassy. During the reception, Ambassador Pema Choden spoke about the importance of the event as a poignant moment in Bhutan’s history, which changed the course and ushered in an era of peace and prosperity after over 200 years of internal feud and civil wars.

The reception was attended by over 200 people including members of the diplomatic and business community in Belgium, Honorary Consuls of Bhutan, friends of Bhutan in Europe and Bhutanese students and residents from 12 countries in Europe.

Paintings and art work by Mr Roland Bentz, a well-established painter from Germany, whose works were inspired by his multiple visits to Bhutan, were also exhibited during the reception.
