May 8 1983 - Soon an iodised salt plant is to be set up in Phuntsholing by the Department of Industry and Mines with assistance from UNICEF. The plant, which will have a capacity of 40 MT' per day, by ensuing regular supply of iodised salt to the people is expected to contribute considerably towards reducing the incidence of endemic goitre and cretinism in Bhutan.
