Most cordyceps collectors of Chhoekhor gewog could not sell their harvest this year.

It has been more than two months since the collectors have returned from the mountain.

This, according to the people, is because lack of auction. This year the auction was cancelled due to the pandemic.

Rinchen from Tashiling said: “We don’t have any other alternative for our income and we are worried.”

Some people share that when there is an auction they can sell the cordyceps and fetch the expected price.

Jigme Wangda said that it is convenient for them to sell the cordyceps if there is an auction.

The highest collectors got around Nu 1.5M per kilogram this year.

People claim that this year the permit was issued late and when they reached the site cordyceps were damaged.

Yeshey Nidup, a collector, said that same quality of cordyceps were sold from Nu 5 to Nu 0.6M last year. For the same quality, the buyers are not giving more than Nu 0.2M this year.
