Training: Her Majesty Gyalyum Tshering Yangdon Wangchuck graced the graduation ceremony of the 10-day basic skills training course for nuns and granted certificates at the Paro College of Education yesterday.
The training, conducted by the lecturers from the college, focused on four areas; teaching skills, teaching strategies, assessment for learning, and basic skills in counselling and learning process.
The 20 participants were equipped with basic skills like making lesson plans, writing objectives, organizing learning activities and introducing them to contemporary methods and strategies in delivering content and assessment tools.
The training also focused on basic counselling skills such as attending, listening, speaking and questioning skills. The participants were also introduced to developmental and learning theories, which provide participants with vital insight in understanding and acknowledging the existence of different learning styles and different strength in their students.
The training included lectures, discussions and role-playing. The participants were engaged in vigorous discussion and learning tasks such as writing home works, initiating group activities and doing individual and group presentation.
The training was conducted by Paro College of Education and Bhutan Nuns foundation with support from United Nations Population Fund.
