Bhutan recorded the one-day highest Covid-19 positive cases with 381 cases detected in the past 24 hours as of yesterday evening. Of that, 305 cases were from the community, which is also the highest recorded to date.

The number of community cases makes up 80 percent of the total number of cases detected during the same period. The age of the patients ranges from infant to 89 years.

The last one-day highest positives case was recorded on February 1, with 312.

Of the community cases, Wangdiphodrang has the highest with 260 of the 263 positive cases in total. Chukha stands second with 29. With five from the Thromdey and two each from Samdrupcholing and Dewathang, Samdrupjongkhar has nine.

Gelephu in Sarpang has six and Thimphu has one from Kabisa. Rest are all the contacts of earlier positive cases and the domestic travellers.




A team from Royal Centre for Disease Control also joined the teams in Wangdiphodrang for the mass screening on February 13.

According to the notice that the Wangdue-Punakha-Gasa Civid-19 task force issued on February 14, the second phase of community testing for red and yellow zones started on February 15. All the individuals from every household in Bjagphoog, Bangtoedkha and red zones of adjoining areas of Bajo Core town, Gangthangkha, Haebisa (Tsirawogm)-DGPC colony and colony at a lower stage, Power plant, and Lawakha were tested.

Samples from the residents of Jarogang-Dzawa, including Petakha colony and school, Dabchhaykha-Matsigkha, and Khatoedkha were collected yesterday. These are also the red zones.

The testing of people living in yellow zones of Gyala, Oola, Silli-Taagsha, Haebisa, Shingkhay Khatoed and Shingkhay Khamaed, which was scheduled for tomorrow is now deferred until further notice.

Likewise, screening in Bjimthangkha Colony (red) is also deferred.

A public notice from the Wangdue-Punakha-Gasa Covid-19 task force issued yesterday stated that the tests have been deferred to test class X and XII students of Wangude who have to report to designated schools for board examinations.




The earlier notification stated that, in other red zones of extended Bajo town and Bajo Core town will be carried out day after,” the notification stated.

According to the earlier notification, the community sweeping of residents method will be deployed in which all the members in every household will be tested. In the yellow zones, only one from each household will be tested. 

Going by the data compiled since January 15, 1,038 positive cases were detected in Wangdue as of yesterday of which 544 were from the community.

Meanwhile, we have 2,676 active cases out of 8,297 confirmed cases with five deaths so far.

A total of 188 individuals recovered in the past 24 hours as of 6pm yesterday.
