The driver of a Bolero died on his way to the Mongar hospital following  an accident in Silambi gewog, in the evening of December 24.

Two other passengers were injured when the Bolero veered off the road.

The health assistant of Nagor Basic Health Unit (BHU), Sonam Wangdi said the deceased suffered severe head and chest injury and was vomiting blood from mouth and bleeding from the nose.

He added that the deceased was unconscious. The BHU staff after basic treatment referred the 24-year-old driver to Mongar referral hospital.

Sonam Wangdi said he received a call from the Gyalgong chiwog tshogpa at around 5.45 pm and when they reached the site, villagers were helping the victims.

Silambi gup, Dorji Wangchuk said the place of accident was above Nagor village and  and more than 100 villagers helped the victims to get to the road. Sonam Wangdi said he even called for helicopter service but it couldn’t be availed due to nightfall.

The deceased and his 40-year old elder brother were on their way to Laiju goenpa, about four kilometers from the school to drop their 36-year old cousin who is a tshampa.

The brothers were discharged yesterday.
