For the people of Yangneer in Trashigang, it used to take a whole day to avail a firewood permit because Renewable Natural Resources (RNR) office was located far away from the gewog centre.

Not anymore. Yangneer now has its own one-stop services centre.

The centre houses gewog administration office, public meeting hall, RNR office, Bhutan Power Corporation office, Community Centre office, and offices for engineer and accountant.

“Earlier we faced difficulties in availing services on time,” said Sangay Wangdi, a farmer. “Sometimes, when the officials were on tour, the whole process would take weeks.”

Another famer, Bajey, said that it had come become convenient both farmers and service providers. “What is important that new we get services on time.”

Gewog officials said that the centre was the first of its kind in all of the 205 gewogs. “It will be an example to other gewogs.”

Gup Duthop said that such centres had the potential to cut down on unnecessary expenditures.

The construction of the centre cost more than Nu 1M.
