K4 Cup: Paro United edged out a thriller against Takin City in yesterday’s encounter of the K4 Cup.
Defending a below par target of 124 runs, Paro United played their hearts out in the field as they bowled out Takin City in the 19th over, winning the match by 21 runs.
The low scoring encounter saw Paro United electing to bat first after winning the toss. Only Passang Thinley managed to score 34 runs while three of Paro United’s batsman got duck out.
Dampoo Dorji managed to pick up three wickets for Takin City, while Tandin Nidup and Mehedi Hassan got two wickets each.
Chasing 123 runs, Captain Sonam Tobgay of Takin City promoted himself to open the bat but all didn’t go as planned. The next three batsmen after him, returned to the pavilion without troubling the score sheet.
Some disciplined bowling from Passang Thinley and Ugyen Tshering, who took three and five wickets respectively, meant that Paro United defended their score of 123 runs well. The former was adjudged as the man of the match for his outstanding innings with both bat and ball.
In Saturday’s match, Bhutan Telecom’s history of losing to BTCL continued as they lost by 4 wickets.
Bhutan Telecom where bowled all out for 207 in the 35th over. Shiv Shankar and Duptho’s partnership, which took Telecom’s score past 150 runs being the stand out performance.
BTCL chased down the target of 208 easily with only few scares. Thinley Wangchuk of BTCL with his opening partnership of 60 runs and three wickets was given the man of the match award.
Next week, Youth XI takes on Paro United on Saturday and on Sunday Bhutan Telecom face TYT cricket club.
