Futsal: In the final game of the open futsal tournament, The Cup of Hope: Together Towards a Better Tomorrow, Pep City defeated team Chithuen Phendhey Association (CPA) 3-2 at the Changjiji mini pitch yesterday.

In a tightly contested game, Pep City took early lead scoring in the second minute of the game. The former open futsal champions, Pep City, doubled their lead in the 15th minute.

With two goals down in the first half, CPA got back with a goal in the early minutes of the second half. CPA equalized in the next 10 minutes. Pep City, however, scored the winning goal of the match in the dying minutes of the match to claim the title.

The five-day tournament was organized by Chithuen Phendhey Association to promote awareness on drug addiction. The organizers said that the competition was held also to keep the youth engaged in meaningful way during their vacation.

CPA’s Tshering Wangchen said the money generated from the tournament will be used to fund recovering addicts wishing to continue their education.

A total of 15 teams took part in the tournament and about 150 youth were involved.

The winner of the tournament bagged a trophy along with individual medals and a cash prize of Nu 25,000. The runners up took home a trophy with medals and Nu 15,000.
