BBF starts video recording system

With the league becoming tough and competitive, BBF has started recording every match. The initiative was started to monitor the matches and to help players and match officials enhance skills from the match experience.

“The future aim is to have a well-developed video assistance referees and the screens that would display the match timings. This can be used as an educational tool by the players and match officials to learn from the mistakes during the match,” Sonam Tobgay said.

Players and the teams opting to review the decisions of the match officials and to preview the plays of other teams have to pay Nu 3000. The complaints and call against the decisions of the match officials become official complaint only after the teams or the players pay the required amount for the video record system.

The technical department used the system to review after-match incidents that took place on March 13 when debutant Takins lost to Pazaps 57-59 on the matchday 21. One of the senior players from Takins, Sonam Karma Tshering was banned for a match. The match allowance of the officials was canceled by the federation.

“The video record shows several foul calls missed by the match officials and the conduct of the player was not appropriate,” said Sonam Tobgay.

The federation’s officials said that the video record system helped a lot in monitoring matches and the league.
