Ten Bhutanese chess players will be among 2,000 individuals from around the world participating in the 44th Chess Olympiad in Chennai, India from July 28 to August 10. 

Bhutan Chess Federation selected the players in May.  The participants were trained by various trainers including FIDE’s (International Chess Federation) trainer Vishal Sareen from India, Chaturanga from Sri Lanka and Karma Sonam, the only Bhutanese FIDE Certified national instructor. The team will travel to India on July 26. 

Bhutan is participating in the Chess Olympiad for the second time after the 43rd Chess Olympiad in Norway in 2014.
