The Ministry of Agriculture and Forests in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization, World Food Program, and other government agencies commemorated World Food Day yesterday.

This year’s global theme is “Better production, better nutrition, better environment and a better life”. The celebrations included the screening of WFP video messages which highlighted the importance of food security during the hard times, especially the pandemic.

Agriculture secretary, Thinley Namgay said, “The biggest challenge in Bhutan is the nutrition people consume. Due to the impact of climate change and other restrictions, meeting the necessity is hard. Thus, working together to fulfil the goal of Zero Hunger by 2030 is really important.”
