Five Bhutanese chess players from Dr Tobgyel School won eight matches as of yesterday in the ongoing World School Team Chess Tournament held in the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Bhutan defeated Mozambique yesterday. Bhutan is ranked 32nd out of 43 countries as of yesterday.
On August 6, Bhutan won against Vietnam. Team captain Lhundrup M Dorji has won four out of five games he has played and has won the most games for Bhutan.
On August 5, a team from Venezuela defeated Bhutan 4-0, but Bhutan achieved a landslide victory against Ghana bagging 3.5 points out of 4. That time, Pema Yangsel, Dolkar Lhamo and captain Lhundrup M Dorji snatched a win. Tshering T Wangdi drew the match.
Bhutan lost to Mongolia 4-0 on August 4, but the team came strong in the next game as they drew against Egypt 2-2.
