Semchen Tshethar Tshogpa, the Animal Life-Saving Association, an NGO based in Thimphu, saved 34 yaks from being slaughtered between September 21 and October 19. The yaks were rescued from Chamgang.  The association paid Nu 40,000 to Nu 45,000 each for a male yak and Nu 22,000 to Nu 25,000 each for a female yak. The rescued yaks were taken to Sephu and Pelela pass areas in Wangduephodrang, where they are cared for. Yab Dasho Ugyen Dorji and Yum Thuji Zam donated Nu 90,000 to rescue the yaks, according to the association members.
