Transport: Coinciding with the 109th National Day celebrations yesterday, Phuentsholing thromde and Bhutan Post included a new bus, increasing its fleet to three buses.

The Eicher bus has a capacity for 58 passengers (29 standing). It is one of 18 new buses recently procured by Bhutan Post. The inclusion of the bus is expected to cover periphery areas of the town.

Thrompon Uttar Kumar Rai said that the thromde has also identified 17 new bus stops. “We will identify more than 40 bus stops in the future,” he said.

The thromde has also constructed a cost-effective bus stop in Bhutanese traditional architecture. Uttar Kumar Rai said that the thromde will construct such bus stops to maintain the country’s culture and traditions.

Meanwhile, a coaster bus will also included into the fleet. This bus will cover areas such as Dhamdara, Pipal Dara, and Kabreytar.

The thromde also handed over a City Patrol Van to the police yesterday. The van will be used to patrol core town areas within the range of Pasaka and the Amochhu settlement.
