Visit: Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay has asked that the dzongkhag investigate the poor conditions of the Pangbang to Nganglam dungkhag road which was blacktopped last year.

Lyonchoen called for the investigation during his visit to Norbugang gewog yesterday.

Despite being blacktopped last year, the Pangbang to Nganglam dungkhag road is already pockmarked with potholes.

Lyonchoen pointed out that to develop the villages and the gewog, the government has provided necessary services and facilities like schools, health units, electricity, electric fencing, gewog agriculture extension offices, animal husbandry, banking, and roads, among others.

However, the newly constructed Denchi to Dungmin gewog centre road and the Pangbang to Nganglam blacktopped road are already in bad condition. Both the roads are yet to be officially inaugurated. Lyonchoen also pointed out that the Norbugang gewog centre road which was also blacktopped already has potholes.

Lyonchoen asked the Pemagatshel dzongdag to investigate whether the contractor, Department of Roads or truck drivers are responsible for the road’s disintegration.

Trucks carrying Dungsam Cement products and Druk Gyyproduct and Chemicals Ltd goods from Pemagatshel ply on the Pangbang to Nganglam dungkhag road for the Mangdechhu hydro power and Punatshangchhu I projects.

Lyonchoen asked the managers of the companies to avoid using the road for trucks. The gewog centre road is for gewog purposes and not for heavy vehicles, he said.

Lyonchoen also inspected the Dungsam Cement plant and the Druk Gyyproduct and Chemicals Ltd factory and to meet with workers and officials.

Following the visit, Lyonchoen left for Phuentsholing in Chukha.

Lyonchoen has so far visited 134 of 205 gewogs in the country.
