The Indian external affairs minister, Sushma Swaraj, called on Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay in New Delhi yesterday evening.

The two leaders discussed on taking the Bhutan-India relations to new heights during this celebration of the 50 years of establishment of formal diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Lyonchhen is on a three-day official visit at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Minister of state for external affairs General VK Singh and senior officials of the Government of India received Lyonchhen’s delegation at the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

A delegation of India-Bhutan Friendship Association members, led by chairperson and the deputy chairman of Rajya Sabha, Bhuuvneshwar Kalita and Druk Thuksey recipient RN Anil, also called on Lyonchhen.

Lyonchhen’s delegation includes the minister and secretary of finance, GNHC secretary, foreign secretary, economic affairs secretary, DGPC managing director, and Bhutan’s ambassador to India.

Lyonchhen will call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind today.
