Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay assured the people of Tshenkhar gewog in Lhuentse that he would discuss with the officials of Royal Civil Service Commission (RCSC) to look into the possibility of conducting the RCSC examination in the east.

The assurance was given in response to a concern raised by a retired soldier, Nawang Dorji, who claimed that sending their children to Thimphu to sit for RCSC preliminary examination and the main examination incurs huge expenditure on them.

He said that many parents from the east borrow money to send their children to Thimphu. “But not all children get through the exams.”

Nawang Dorji also said that many youth end up abusing drugs in absence of parental guidance in Thimphu.

Another villager, Kinzang Penjor, requested the Prime Minister to upgrade the Autsho basic health unit (BHU) II, reasoning that it will cater to Autsho town, central school, Namdrolling dratsang and people and officials of three gewogs.

Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay said that to upgrade the BHU, there are certain procedures to be followed. “The ministry will upgrade the BHU if it fulfils the criteria.”

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister also promised to depute a female nurse to Jarey gewog BHU.

Jarey gup Kinzang Minjur said that of the 41 empty households in the gewog, about 50 percent decided to return to the villages.

With more than 94.8kms of electric fencing, Jarey gewog has the highest coverage of electric fencing of eight gewogs in the dzongkhag. There are ongoing projects, which is expected to benefit the community.

In Mongar, Thangrong gup Chengala requested Prime Minister to provide a Bhutan Broadcasting Service (BBS) channel to the gewog, as people do not hear any national news without it.

Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay said he would discuss it with BBS management and the information and communications ministry.
