… seizes more than 39,000 capsules of SP Plus

In the biggest seizure to date, the Police’s Narcotic Drugs and Law Enforcement Unit in Thimphu arrested three people, including a man, aged between 26 to 29 years for illicit trafficking of drugs at Yoeselpang, Thimphu on August 30.
The unit intercepted the bolero pickup truck they were travelling in at Yoeselpang vegetable shed. The team conducted a search at their home and recovered two cartoon boxes (21 packets) containing SP Plus from underneath the wooden floor and 14 packages of SP Plus wrapped in a bedsheet inside a red laundry basket.
The husband of the woman was also arrested from Thimphu town on the same night. The suspects, on interrogation, told police that they had ordered the drugs (SP+) from a vegetable vendor in Jaigaon, India.
The unit is tracking down the vehicle that brought the consignment from the border.
