Trongsa police detained a 23-year man from Tashiyangtse who called the national health helpline 112 and falsely reported a motor vehicle accident at Kuengarabten on June 26 night.

The ambulance of Dangdung basic health unit was dispatched to the spot which was around 30km away and returned empty.

Drakteng gewog administration reported the case to the police and asked for an investigation.

The man was arrested in Bumthang. He claimed that he was drunk and committed the mistake. He is under police custody for further investigation.

Such reporting of false information is graded as a petty misdemeanour as per the Penal Code of Bhutan.
