The Prime Minister of Bhutan received a royal audience from His Majesty King Letsie III of the Kingdom of Lesotho yesterday. During the meeting, the Prime Minister conveyed the warm greetings and hospitality of the government and people of Bhutan to the King.
In their discussions, the Prime Minister and His Majesty reflected on the many striking similarities between Bhutan and Lesotho, despite the great geographic distance that separates the two kingdoms. Both Bhutan and Lesotho are landlocked and entirely mountainous, with their territories located approximately 28 degrees north and south of the equator, respectively.
The leaders also discussed about the common challenges and opportunities faced by their countries, particularly in terms of their relatively small populations and economies. Both Bhutan and Lesotho rely heavily on agriculture, tourism, and hydropower as key sectors driving their development.
