An adult crane that was rescued from Khamey in Lhangthel, Trongsa with minor injuries on the limbs has been moved to the crane rehabilitation facility Phobjikha on December 4.

According to the officials at the centre, Veterinary doctors from Thimphu were called to examine the crane and found minor injuries on the limbs.  However, it is doing well at the centre.

It is the first time a crane was sighted in Langthel.

According to Kado Rinchen of Jigme Singye Wangchuk National park, who escorted the crane to Phobjikha, the crane was spotted on December 3 at Khamey surrounded by stray dogs, it was rescued by a security official and who later informed him.

Kado Rinchen said that he requested the guard to look into if any injuries were there or not.

Early next morning he rushed to the site and informed the relevant officials who suggested him lo transport to Phobjikha.

He said that the security personnel’s at Khamey helped in making a wooden box to transport the bird safely and hired a taxi.

Meanwhile, three cranes were spotted at Kabadaba in Nubi gewog, Trongsa feeding on the grains on December 3 in fields and moved away the next day.
