Exhibition: Her Majesty Gyalyum Tshering Yangdon Wangchuck officially closed the Royal Bhutan Flower Exhibition, which was held at the Ugyen Pelri Palace grounds from April 2 to 6.

The exhibition saw almost 50,000 visitors in five days, with close to 22,000 visitors on  April 4 alone.

Organised on the Royal Command of His Majesty the King, the exhibition envisions to inspire appreciation for beautiful spaces, foster community vitality, and encourage the growth of a vibrant entrepreneurship in floriculture.

In a special message granted for the Royal Bhutan Flower Exhibition, His Majesty commanded: “ Where we live must be clean, safe, organised, and beautiful, for national integrity, national pride, and for our bright future. This too is Nation Building.”

Eight garden developers participated in the exhibition and competed for the best garden, which was announced today.

The participants expressed satisfaction on the success of the exhibition, and noted that the Bhutanese were very interested in flowers. Most visitors bought plants or cut flowers at the exhibition, and many expressed how the beauty around them inspired them.

The Royal Bhutan Flower Exhibition 2015 is dedicated to His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, on the occasion of His Majesty’s 60th Birth Anniversary celebrations. The exhibition will be an annual event.
