Sports: Lt Col Kuenzang Jamtsho of the Royal Body Guard bagged the first position in the net category and Dechen Ugyen, 23, in the gross category in the Royal Wedding Anniversary Golf Tournament, which concluded on October 25.

The tournament of the Army Welfare Project at Drakpoi Golf Course, Pangrizampa in Thimphu is held annually to celebrate the Royal Wedding anniversary of His Majesty The King and The Gyaltsuen.

The tournament this year saw a total of 112 golfers taking part in the three-day tournament where 58 players competed in the finals.

The winners were awarded a rolling trophy along with a framed Royal Couple Kupar and a cash prize.

For the first time this year, 30 boys and five girls also competed in the Junior Youth Tournament on October 11.

In the junior boy’s category, Sonam Gyeltshen, 13, won the title while in the girl’s division Amrita Das took the first position. Tshenda Dorji bagged the first position in the amateur group with a score of 11 over par played on the same day with the junior youth golfers.

Bhutan Airlines contributed the prize list for the winners, with a round trip ticket to Bangkok and a round trip ticket to Katmandu.
