Royal Thimphu College (RTC) FC recorded their first win in the BoB Bhutan Premier   League (BPL) defeating the BFF President Cup champions Transport United FC 1-0 at home yesterday.

With an impressive home crowd, the hosts dominated the game with 60 percent ball possession.

Both the teams couldn’t break the deadlock and the first half ended in a goalless draw. RTC’s midfielder Kelzang Jigme scored the lone goal when he converted the spot kick in the 69th minute.




Transport had a lot of chances. It had fired 17 shots against 15 from the opponents.

RTC FC’s coach Ugyen Dorji said that home support enhanced the performance. “We played as per our plan and won. We were focused.”

“They are a very good team but we came stronger,” Ugyen Dorji said.

RTC also fought hard against Thimphu City FC in the opening game on August 13 but lost it 1-0 in the dying minutes of the game.

Transport’s coach Bikash Pradhan said that his team lost the match despite all the effort and numerous goal-scoring opportunities.




Transport drew against Ugyen Academy FC 2-2 On August 18. They will face 2022 Coronation Cup champions Druk Lhayul FC on August 27.

RTC FC will play their third game against Tensung FC on September 30.

Thimphu City FC and Paro FC are leading the BPL season with six points each. They will face play at Woochu Sports Arena in Paro tomorrow.

Paro Rinpung FC will host BFF Academy FC today at Woochu Sports Arena at 3pm.
