With 220 polling officials deployed to the 45 polling stations in the dzongkhag, Sarpang is all set for the poll day tomorrow.

Shompangkha constituency has 21 polling stations and Gelephu constituency has 24.

The returning officer of Gelephu, Tshering Wangchuk, said that the polling officials reached their designated polling booths on October 14.

He said that elderly voters and mothers with small kids would be given priority to cast their ballot so that they need not stand in the queue for a long time. “Our polling officials have been briefed on the matter.”

He said that the polling officials would also give priority to the disabled people that would come to cast their vote on the poll day.

Shompangkha’s returning officer, Thinley Phuntsho, said that 102 polling officials were deployed in the constituency.

The election has been smooth in the dzongkhag given that no formal complaints have been lodged by any of the parties as yet, according to election officials in the dzongkhag.

With a total of 30,183 registered voters in the two constituencies, Sarpang is the fourth largest dzongkhag after Trashigang, Samtse and Mongar in terms of the voter population.

There are a total of 17,242 voters in the Gelephu constituency and 12,941 in the Sompangkha constituency. The numbers include EVM voters, conventional postal voters and those who registered for the postal ballot facilitation booths.
