Continued rainfall and limited helping hands in the lockdown times haven’t stopped the people from repairing Shana Zam in Paro.

Within three days, 22 Royal Bhutan Army soldiers from Gunitsawa, along with locals from Shana, completed the construction of a bridge yesterday.

The bridge was washed away on Wednesday following heavy rainfall.

Following the completion, 16 horses from Soe came to Paro to transport essential items from the Food Corporation of Bhutan yesterday.

He said the stranded individuals were ready to leave for Soe.

The bridge connects Lingzhi and Soe.

Five horses carrying essential food items were crossing the bridge when the swollen river washed the bridge away.

According to Tsento Gup Dolay Tshering, the gewog had plans to replace the bridge but Covid-19 pandemic delayed the work.

The gewog has set aside Nu 1.9 million for the construction of the new bridge.
