A 17-year-old girl died on impact when a shooting boulder struck her around 3.30PM in Zimrorong, along the Gyelpoishing – Nganglam highway yesterday.

According to police, the boulders rolled off when a tree that was struck by lighting fell on it. Three more girls were also injured in the incident. While two were discharged from the Gyelpoishing BHU after they were given first aid for minor injuries, the third who suffered a minor head injury is still kept under observation. She is reported to be in stable condition.

The girls were among 37 students from Gyelpoishing Central School who were out for a class picnic.
