Water Female Rabbit Year – Six new Bhutanese will celebrate their birthday on the day  His Majesty The King was born if not  celebrate their birthday on Losar, the Lunar new year, which differs from year to year.

On February 21, six babies were born at the national referral hospital in Thimphu. Four were girls. The birth anniversary of His Majesty The King this year is considered auspicious as it coincided with the Losar – the start of Water Female Rabbit Year.

 “I truly feel that such coincidence is truly a blessing for the entire family” said one of the parents. Some parents said that having a baby born on such important days adds more pride in the lives of parents.

Kinzang Dema, a mother of two children was happy with the news and  said such coincidence adds happiness to the family and a story to tell for the rest of the life. “Not everyone will deliver on such occasions” she added.

Addressing the nation from Changlimithang on the occasion of His Majesty’s birth anniversary, Prime minister Dr Lotay Tshering said that His Majesty’s birth anniversary coinciding with the Losar happens only once in 18 years.
