Six Bhutanese sustained minor injuries when the bus they were travelling in crashed into an Indian truck on the Indian highway, en route to Bhutan from Kolkata.

The incident occurred on the morning of November 3 at Malda district. It takes approximately seven hours to reach to Phuentsholing from Malda.

Sources said an Indian truck hit the Bhutanese bus.

Meanwhile, there were 18 passengers on board. All were referred to a local hospital but 12 were released the same day.

The injured passengers were also supposed to get released the same day, a Phuentsholing drungkhag official said.

“The Consul General office in Kolkata had coordinated the case,” the official said, adding that an official was also sent at the site.

Although RSTA in Phuentsholing were also intimated about the accident, officials did not have to go to Malda as passengers with minor injuries were stable.
