Crime: The Thimphu police arrested six youth aged 14 to 18 years in connection with robbery and auto stripping that occurred on August 22.
Police said the boys robbed a man in Zilukha on August 22. The incident took place around 8:15pm when the man, a corporate employee, was returning home after work.  The youth stopped him and punched him after which he was robbed off his bicycle, mobile phone and wallet as he lay on the ground.
The corporate employee reported the case to the police on the same night.
According to his statement to police, he had about Nu 7,000 in his wallet and other documents while his bicycle was worth about Nu 41,000.
In the same night, police arrested three youth and recovered the mobile phone from one of them. The rest were identified and arrested on August 23 with the help of their parents.  The bicycle was also recovered.
On the same night of the incident, at around 10:50pm, an alto car owner in Hejo reported to police that his car’s windshield and windows were broken.
Police arrested a boy at the crime scene and later found that the six youth were involved in this case.
“Upon investigation, we found that the six youth were involved in both the crimes,” said a police official.
Among the six, one is a school dropout while the rest are students studying in Thimphu.
The case is under investigation.
